A Quick Guide to Power Pages Website Templates

Power Pages includes ready-made website templates that accelerate the development of data-driven, self-service sites connected to Dynamics 365 and Dataverse.

This article covers eight templates across two categories. The first four are general-purpose: application processing, event registration, appointment scheduling, and FAQ management. The second group is built specifically for Dynamics 365 environments: customer self-service, partner portals, community portals, and employee self-service.

Each template provides a starting point that can be customised for your processes, with forms, workflows, and CRM integration already configured.

Application Process Template

Power Pages application template

This template is set up to manage submission processes for permits but it can be adapted to handle other types, such as grant applications or partner signups.

External users can submit application requests, track the approval status, and view submitted applications.

Further capabilities support cancelling application requests, opting for email alerts, and checking instructions before submission.

Submitted applications can be routed to Dynamics 365 or Power Apps, ensuring these are handled according to your specific procedures and business rules.

Registration Website Template

The registration template can manage diverse signup processes.

Initially designed for school event registrations, it can easily be adapted for workshops, conferences, community events and various others.

This provides step-by-step registration, allowing people to sign up for individual or multi-day event sessions.

It simplifies the management of event listings and attendee information, enhancing the registrant’s experience.

Adaptable forms and integration with Dynamics 365 and Power Apps ensure that each registration is handled efficiently.

Scheduling Website Template

The appointment scheduling template is designed to simplify self-service bookings.

By default, this is presented for a financial services scenario, but can be customised for other sectors. For example, it could be adapted for servicing appointments, inspections or healthcare visits.

These websites allow customers can quickly book, cancel or reschedule appointments with specific staff members at defined locations and times. Team members can define and control their available slots to align with work calendars.

With Power Apps and Dynamics 365 integration, a record of each booking is automatically created to align with day-to-day business operations.

FAQ Site Template

This template provides a ready-made framework for publishing an online information base.

It’s centred on an organised structure with broad topics divided into subtopics and detailed articles to help people find solutions to their queries quickly.

FAQ management isn’t limited to the customer interface. It’s also designed to help administrators systematically update and neatly organise their content.

  • Admins can define when to make new or updated topics, subtopics, and articles visible to users, maintaining control over the published information flow.
  • Customisable forms linked with Dataverse offer tools to add richly formatted content, determine feature article order and manage the overall structure.
  • By pointing Copilot at your resource, external users can use conversational chat to find answers.

Choosing a Starting Point

Each template handles a different process, but they share the same foundation: Dataverse storage, Power Automate integration, and role-based security.

The choice depends on what your external users need to do. If the primary task is submitting applications or registrations, the general-purpose templates cover this without a Dynamics 365 licence. If your site needs case management, knowledge resources, or partner collaboration, the Dynamics 365 templates provide these out of the box.
