Timeline announced for Dynamics 365 2020 Release Wave 1

We now have the dates for the Dynamics 365 2020 Release Wave 1. Since 2019, Microsoft have introduced a new strategy for delivering new releases for their CRM, aiming to bring cutting edge technologies on a more regular basis. Microsoft have said that they are dedicated to proactively delivering new capabilities to enable customers and partners to drive toward strong business outcomes. They aim to deliver these capabilities through two release waves per year. 
 

  • January 27, 2020: Release plans available
    Learn about the new upcoming capabilities for Dynamics 365 and Power Platform. (Admin users)
  • February 3, 2020: Early access available
    Try the new features and capabilities that will be part of the April update of the 2020 release wave 1 before they’re enabled automatically.
  • April 1, 2020: General availability
    This is when the production deployment for the 2020 release wave 1 begins. Regional deployments will commence on April 3rd, 2020.

Early visibility with a release plan

On the 27th January 2020, Microsoft will publish the release notes for 2020 wave 1, providing a list of features for Dynamics 365 that they aim to deliver during the release wave. This gives partners and customers time to prepare their business should they need to make any changes to take advantage of new capabilities.

As a quick recap, Microsoft started released Wave 2 2019 in October, introducing hundreds of new features, as well as general improvements and bug fixes. This wave deployment will happen through to March 2020.
