What are the main Dynamics 365 Sales licences?

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Sales is offered in three main licences, catering from essential sales functionality to the more complex demands of sales processes. We’ve also included the Team Member licence, which can be a cost-effective option for basic user needs.

It’s important to note that combining Sales Enterprise and Premium licences in the same environment as Sales Professional licenses isn’t permissible.

Dynamics 365 Sales Professional

Functionality: Ideal for teams with simpler sales processes, offering essential sales force automation (SFA) capabilities.

Target Audience: Designed for businesses seeking a straightforward solution that avoids overwhelming a sales team with unnecessary complexity.

Limitations: Sales Pro is restricted to a maximum of 15 custom tables (entities) and does not include Copilot for Sales generative AI capabilities. Further exclusions include sales goals, territory management, forecasting, product families, knowledge base, embedded intelligence and business units.

Sales Pro licences do not accrue additional storage capacity or provide entitlement to run custom Power Apps.

Dynamics 365 Sales Enterprise

Functionality: Goes beyond basic sales force automation to meet the needs of intricate sales processes and cycles.

Target Audience: Suitable for teams with complex sales processes needing advanced features.

Limitations: Restricted capacities for some functionalities, including sales sequencing, lead/opportunity scoring and work lists.

Dynamics 365 Sales Premium

Functionality: Includes all Sales Enterprise capabilities, plus additional analytics and automated sales insights. These include connection insights, predictive forecasting and relationship analytics. Sales Premium also provides uncapped usage of sales accelerator functionality, including sequences and predictive scoring.

Target Audience: Sales teams seeking to use AI and automation to drive efficiency and enhance decision-making in complex sales processes.

Dynamics 365 Team Member Licences

Functionality: Basic access and features, including read-only access to sales data and the ability to perform minor admin and operational tasks. Sales Team Members can create, read, update, and delete contacts, activities, and notes.

Target Audience: People who do not require full sales functionality but need access to data for insights, reporting, and supporting roles. Team Member licences are ideal for employees who only need to view customer data and sales details or participate in supportive tasks.

Limitations: Access is limited to the dedicated Team Member app. You cannot manage lead/opportunity processes, update accounts, or access advanced sales functionalities. This licence does not support detailed analytics or complex editing capabilities necessary for frontline sales roles.

Dynamics 365 Sales Storage Capacities

The base license for a Dynamics 365 Sales product includes the following default Dataverse cloud storage capacity shared per tenant.

  • Dataverse for Apps Database: 10 GB (Transactional database storage for entity definitions and record data)
  • Dataverse for Apps File: 20 GB (Storing attachments on emails and notes in Dynamics 365 apps, including PDFs, documents and images)
  • Dataverse for Apps Log: 2 GB (Audit logs tracking records and attribute data changes)

Additional base user licenses accrue additional capacities for database storage (@ 250 MB per licence) and file storage (@ 2 GB per licence) with the exception of Professional and Team Member licences.
